How Google Contacts 3.5 Improves Dark Mode
For starters, it’s now possible to force dark mode or light mode to be applied regardless of the mode applied to the rest of your interface. This is why Google Contacts can take advantage of dark mode even if Android Pie’s dark mode is not enabled.
Better still, the app can now be viewed in light mode even with system-level dark mode enabled. This is very practical if, for example, you have chosen to activate the mode automatically when your battery drops below a certain threshold. The update also brings some minor, almost imperceptible aesthetic improvements.
