Google Now Launcher is about to be discontinued. However, it was the favorite launcher of many users, and it was also an interesting alternative to builder layers that gave it a bit of a stock Android side. Unfortunately it will soon be removed from the Play Store and manufacturers will no longer be able to integrate it into their ROMs. Fortunately, there are some interesting alternative solutions.
Which launcher to use instead of Google Assistant?
The arrival of Google Pixel and Pixel Launcher will mark the end of Google Now Launcher. At this time, it is not yet known whether Google will offer a replacement solution knowing that the Pixel Launcher remains exclusive to its last two phones for now. For this reason, we have selected the best alternatives for you.
Nova Launcher
Nova is probably the best Android launcher you can find on the Play Store, but it’s also the most customizable. You can do almost anything with it. Even gestures are supported, and the app, which offers dozens of customization settings, gets a little better with each of its many updates.
Note that the icons are customizable, the launcher is extremely fluid, and you even have a night mode. The basic version is free, but if you really want to fully explore all the possibilities offered, you can invest in the paid version, which costs 5.25 €.
Action Launcher 3
A favorite launcher for many users, Action Launcher 3 has proven itself thanks to its many customization options as well as unique features such as “Quick Page”, a kind of customizable drawer accessible with a simple swipe.
We will also remember Quicktheme, which allows you to create themes in your search bar, or Quickbar, which allows you to customize the appearance of your Google search widget. A launcher that is perhaps more advanced than Google’s, but just as easy to use.
ASAP Launcher
If you want to try something different, ASAP Launcher is for you. It takes its power from its interface, which categorizes information on five home screens and provides quick access to your most used applications with a simple swipe up from the icons at the bottom row of the screen.
The other four home screens provide quick access to your contacts, weather information, calendar, events, and to-do list. A launcher that looks like a personal assistant, with lots of customization options as well.
ADW Launcher 2
If ADW Launcher has been around for many years, its last update in June 2016 was a real revolution. Everything from A to Z has been taken in the spirit of Google’s Material Design. Its current interface is also very similar to that of the Google Pixel. We will appreciate its many customization options as well as its pretty well-designed widgets.
Most of the options offered by the app are available in a free version, but if the experience is conclusive and you want to go even further, an even more advanced paid version is available for 4.19 euros.
Evie Launcher
If you’re looking for a simple and stealthy alternative, Evie Launcher is for you. A simple scroll down gives you access to the search function. You can search both your apps and your contact list and also the web.
Once you find your search result, simply drag it to your home screen to create a shortcut. It’s customizable, somewhat reminiscent of the Google Pixel interface, offers a dockless mode, and even lets you change the size of the app grid.
