Good news for Gmail users Google is preparing to add a popular feature to its messaging app: reactions with emojis. Already available in apps like Messenger, WhatsApp or Google Messages, this functionality could actually disrupt the way Google’s mailbox works.
The feature was first spotted a few weeks ago by The Tape Drive, after code was discovered in the Gmail iOS app that allowed users to react to emails with an emoji. But now we know what these new reactions will look like.

Leaker AssembleDebug has already shared screenshots showing how emoji reactions work in TheSpAndroid. Once the option is enabled, A silhouette of the smiley face emoji will appear to the right of an email in Gmail. Click on it and you’ll be presented with a suggestion: “Respond quickly and add personality,” which allows you to choose an emoji.
By choosing this option, Recipients using Gmail will see your emoji at the bottom of the email. Those who participate in the conversation but do not use Gmail will receive your feedback in a standard email format.
Also note that when you react to an emoji, five predefined options are available, but tapping “+” opens a menu offering the others. In total, almost 50 emojis available, and up to 20 emoji reactions can be added to an email.
According to AssembleDebug on TheSpAndroid, Emoji reactions are expected to be rolled out en masse for Gmail starting in October. They will happen It is initially available on Android and iOS apps.
