The Gboard keyboard is getting a new 8.2.9 update that brings several new features, some of which were already identified in the Gboard version 8.1 beta, including long-pressing a search history to delete it. This new version is compatible with:Emoji 12.0 It includes 59 new emoji and 171 skin color and gender variants.

A few more improvements have been reported in the update’s changelog, but one of the most important is no new feature. The Android navigation bar now gets the same color as the Gboard background. In previous versions, the bar was black or white. If your Gboard theme is very colorful, the contrast becomes noticeable, which doesn’t make everything very visually pleasing.
The navigation bar now automatically colors the theme used, allowing two elements to coexist harmoniously for a visually harmonious look whether you use a solid or gradient color for the background. The situation changes when you use an image as your Gboard theme. In this case, the navigation bar retains its old default colors i.e. black or white.

This makes sense as Gboard would need to stretch the image to cover the navigation bar background, which might be worse than the two-tone display the update wants to fix. Finally, dynamic themes appear to be a server-side deployed feature that explains why they are not found in the change log. The new Gboard update carries the full version 8.2.9.247053488.
