Firefox 81 is currently in public beta – a stable release is expected later this month. what to talk about new feature noticed by our colleagues gHacks. The next version of the browser has an option that allows you to: automatically close tabs you no longer look at after a certain period of time (a day, a week or a month). Firefox 81: Mozilla fixes backlog of open tabs
To take advantage of it, you have to go through the browser preferences where you will find this new option to close tabs. Once configured, your tabs will automatically close after the defined time, if and only if you have not consulted them within that time. A reminiscent of a similar function in the Safari browser on the iPhone. The purpose of the option is twofold: Lower RAM usage while improving user experience.
It’s really easy to get bogged down in tabs. In some cases this may be required by the user, although there are much better options for organizing your searches. In particular, we can talk about bookmarks, which allow you to save pages for later reference and organize them into folders for greater clarity. In others, the buildup comes from forgetting to close open tabs. Both of these scenarios lead to the same result: a pile of pages still open for which you may have forgotten the purpose…
If you enable this option, note: auto-closed tabs usually don’t disappear permanently as long as your browsing history is active and configured not to delete itself at very short intervals. For now, the option is only available in the latest beta version of Firefox 81. To take advantage of it, nothing could be easier: Just download the APK of the latest beta from the Play Store via the next link:
