Google has released an important Android 10 update for a few people Pixel phones. As expected, the February Android 10 update and security patch is now available. Here’s what you need to know, what has changed and how to get it right now.

February Android 10 Update: What’s New
Google releases the latest security updates on the first Monday of every month, which this month is Monday, February 3, 2020. Expect an update immediately or within the next 24-48 hours. My Pixel 4 got it right away, my old Pixel 2 XL is still waiting.

We don’t see a huge list of changes this month like January, but while these fix the initial Android 10 issues, the February update only improves the overall experience.
However, this update will make your phone better, faster and safer.
In February we’re seeing several “critical or high” patches by Google that will make Android 10 more secure. Then there’s a good list of functional patches or bug fixes for Pixel 3 and Pixel 4 phones.
What you see below is a list of “functional fixes” that Google has posted on its forum. Back in February, Google fixed some persistent issues on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, such as booting or freezing. As you can see below, most of the actual bug fixes are for the newest Pixel 4 specifically, not for older devices.

These updates usually arrive within the first few days after they are announced. But sometimes we find these take 2-3 weeks to arrive. When Will I Get the Update?
Typically, you will receive this update within 24-48 hours or the same day as Google publishes it. We see occasional delays or take up to 5-7 days, and the December update didn’t arrive on some devices until January, but that’s rare. My Pixel 4 already has it, but not my Pixel 2 XL.
Either way, wait for an over-the-air update notification. So at this time should come right away, don’t be surprised if you have to wait more than a few days or until the weekend.
Note that Google’s check for updates button should work in your phone’s settings menu. Go to get it now. This button pulls the update from Google servers to your phone.

Pixel February Android 10 Update Issues
we see a lot of people social media who already got the February update and it’s been running smoothly so far. However, we often see complaints about installation issues, freezing and bad battery life after the update. It’s best to wait for the over-the-air update rather than manually installing the files as this is usually the easiest and hassle-free way to do it.
Note that you need more than 30% battery for the update and WiFi is recommended. We recommend that you do the update tonight, not at work, but at home when you have time to deal with potential issues. If you run into problems, here are some common fixes.
What’s Next for Your Pixel 2, 3 or Pixel 4?
With all the changes and fixes from the November, December, and January updates, Pixel devices work great and with very few issues. However, Android 10 introduced a few new issues even after a long 6-month beta period. Google is still working on a few quirks and we’re happy to see this February update address camera, freezing and boot issues.
Now that we’re on the official Android 10 firmware, the next step is to improve the experience, fix bugs and tweak the software for optimal performance each month. Don’t expect Google to release Android 10.1 anytime soon. For now, we expect one update this week and another on the first Monday of every month.
If you have a genuine Google Pixel or Google Pixel XL, you haven’t received an update as December is the last major update for these older phones. You will not receive updates in February. All new devices will continue to see monthly releases.
Also, keep in mind that these new software updates are only for Google’s own smartphones and nothing like the Galaxy S10. Other phones from OnePlus, Samsung, LG or others are waiting for updates from manufacturers. Basically, if you don’t have a newer Google Pixel device, this update isn’t for you yet.
