Droid Turbo 2 fixes two major problems with many smartphones: poor battery life and cracked screens. Even with heavy use, the Droid Turbo 2 battery life lasts for more than a full day, and the screen is resistant to drops on hard and soft surfaces.
Motorola offers a very solid smartphone experience with a fairly stock version of Android 5.1.1 and custom Motorola software that includes automatic adjustments, response to motion, voice control and smart display options.
Even with an inconsistent camera experience, this is a great smartphone that many users should consider.
Droid Turbo 2 Screen: Unbreakable But Not Indestructible

The Droid Turbo 2 display is a sharp looking display with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution display that looks very nice with bright colors and deep blacks. The 5.4-inch screen is easy enough to see outdoors and in bright lights.
Unlike the glass in most smartphones, the Moto ShatterShield uses a 5-layer design, including plastic that can withstand drops and scratches. We dropped the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 on multiple surfaces without any scratches or dents. One of the drops falling on a sharp edge damaged the pixels under the protective layers. The screen still works and if this happens to a regular user it’s part of the warranty.
The phone includes a four-year unbreakable warranty that covers breakage and cracking of parts of the screen. This does not cover cosmetic damage to the phone body. Our phone has some scratches on its body but it is still usable.
Droid Turbo 2 Design
The Droid Turbo 2 design does not copy the aluminum design of the iPhone 6s or the rear glass of the Galaxy S6. Instead, Motorola opts for a mix of metal and other materials to offer a standout look.

While some users may not appreciate the more industrial look of the Droid Turbo 2 or the Verizon and Droid logos, this is a well-made phone that feels solid and includes the option to customize the materials and colors on it. engine manufacturer.
This is a thicker phone than most, but it also allows for a large battery. It’s still thinner than the iPhone 6s with a batter case or protective case.
I love the look and feel of the ballistic nylon on the back of my Droid Turbo 2 review unit, and the black front does a good job of hiding the sensors. You might want to skip the white front, which isn’t as flattering to look at. The phone is not waterproof, but it is water resistant, which removes some of the worries of using this phone without a case.
Droid Turbo 2 Camera
The Droid Turbo 2 camera can take beautiful pictures, but it’s not perfect.
The Droid Turbo 2 has a 21MP camera that can take amazing photos, but it’s not consistent. The rear-facing camera offers great photos and even nice depth of field in some cases, but in low light or even just dim light, the quality oscillates between good and bad.

There’s a 5MP front camera that takes good-looking selfies, but some results may be wiped out. There’s also a front-facing flash that can take selfies that look great in low light.
Droid Turbo 2 Battery Life
The Droid Turbo 2 battery life is incredible. While I need a Mophie case to get my iPhone 6s through a busy day, the 3,760mAH battery in the Droid Turbo 2 is more than enough to get me through a busy workday.

Users will also enjoy TurboPower, which can charge enough for 13 hours of operation in 15 minutes with the included charger. This saved me when I realized my strength was low and I had to go to the hospital to visit my grandfather. I plugged the phone in, got ready and had enough power for the day.
Motorola also includes wireless charging that supports PMA and Qi chargers, so you can charge this phone almost anywhere.
Droid Turbo 2 Performance
With 3GB of RAM and an Octacore 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, the Droid Trubo 2 is fast and ready for the apps you want to run and the tasks you want it to complete.
The front-facing speakers are surprisingly loud and offer a good range of sound. They’re not perfect, but the audio is better than many competing devices, and it’s easier to watch a YouTube video without holding your hand to hear what someone is saying.
Call quality is adequate, but I miss the crisp, clear sound of the FaceTime audio call my iPhone offers.
Users can expand the storage with Micro SD card if the 32GB or 64GB phone they purchased does not have enough space.
Droid Turbo 2 Software
The Droid Turbo 2 runs a fairly stock version of Android 5.1.1 – but comes with a plethora of Verizon apps and pre-installed Verizon apps right out of the box. Google is currently down to Android 6.0, we expect the Droid Turbo 2 to undergo a software update in the future.
Motorola leaves most of Android alone and offers useful apps like Moto Display instead of messing with system settings and styles. It provides a quick overview of important notifications and includes features that can automate do not disturb mode based on your calendar. The Droid Turbo 2 also responds to your voice whenever you want and does a good job of understanding what I want from the phone.
I especially enjoy the Motorola Loop app, which acts as a hub for my home. It connects to my Nest thermostat, Hue lights and allows me to control them. The app also knows where I am and can share it with another user. The app includes a weather feature that lets me know when it will run and for how long. A surprisingly useful hub for my connected home.
Is Droid Turbo 2 Worth Buying?
After all, at the end of the day, you want to know if the Droid Turbo 2 is worth buying. It’s not a perfect phone, but it’s one you can’t ignore if you need incredible battery life and a drop-resistant display that will disable other phones.
There are plenty of Verizon apps pre-installed on the phone and you can’t delete them all, but with a Micro SD card slot you won’t run out of space so quickly, at least on older devices.
Ultimately, you’ll have to decide whether a shatterproof screen and lasting battery life are more important than consistent photo quality and sleeker designs.
