Android Pay teams up with Paypal to enable contactless payment

Contactless payment via mobile is something that has been around for a very long time. However, it was not deployed as quickly as we hoped in mobile, banks and stores that had difficulty investing in this technology.

Therefore, while France has mainly adopted contactless payment with our credit cards, few bank players have advanced mobile payment on a large scale. This does not prevent Android Pay, which is Apple Pay’s competitor, from developing day by day.

Android Pay and PayPal collaborate for contactless payment

Currently, Android Pay only supports debit cards. But today the payment service is announcing that Paypal is now only supported on the platform for American users. It is now possible for them to pay only through their online account.

The reason for this limitation is that PayPal actually goes through a partner called Discover for this. However, it is not yet accepted in Europe and outside the United States.

And that’s a shame, because such compatibility could finally let Android Pay see the light of day in France. If banking players were not blocked in our country, it would be much easier to implement this solution.

So until we wait for the launch of Orange Bank, which promises easier mobile payments, we only have Orange Cash left to be able to pay with an Android smartphone. If paying with your smartphone seems like the future of easy payment, keeping up with large institutions and changing mindsets is complicated.
