The company says it wants to clarify and simplify the naming of its updates. That’s why Android Q has been renamed Android 10.
Before Android 10, Google always named its updates with sweet names. We specifically qualify for Cupcake, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop or Oreo updates. It seems that the idea may have come from a private joke within the Google teams.

9to5Google discovered “Tiramisu” under “Android version” in the settings of a smartphone running Android 13. In previous iterations of the mobile operating system, Google was happy to indicate the official numbering or lettering of the corresponding codename.
On the other hand, the full codename was not available neither in the first beta nor in later ones. sweet name limited exclusively to internal communicationbut a Google engineer mistakenly referred to Android 12 as Snow Cone in public last year.
With Android 13, Google shows the name Tiramisu publicly. According to specialist media accustomed to researching the code of the operating system, Tiramisu will therefore not be just a codename. According to the record, the first beta available to the general public will be out next May.
