5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Buy The Pixel 2 XL

The new Google Pixel 2 XL is a good phone with a lot to offer, but it’s not for everyone. There are many reasons to get one, but even more reasons not to. All the issues and issues that keep surfacing, confusion about Google’s warranty, or it could be the many alternatives available.

Google’s smaller Pixel 2 remains a good buy, but we can’t safely say the same for the larger XL, at least not yet. Here’s what happened and a few reasons why you shouldn’t buy this phone today.

The first major concern is the screen and all the complaints around it. However, in the weeks after the release date, we’ve seen a number of other issues pop up. Image burn-in, sending phones without an operating system, strange sounds coming from the speaker or failed quality control but still sent. Google is taking steps to rectify the situation, but we’re not sure if they’ve done enough yet.

On October 19, two phones made “by Google inside and outside” were released. These are the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google’s second attempt at its own smartphone. Initial reviews praised the larger Pixel 2 XL for many reasons. It comes with a 6-inch edge-to-edge display, dual front-facing speakers, long battery life, and the latest Android 8.0 Oreo software. Not to mention a premium camera experience that offers features like portrait mode. Rather than needing two cameras like the newest devices from Samsung and Apple, only Google’s phone can do this with a single camera.

Google has made improvements in key areas over the original Pixel in 2016. This phone has stylish design and water resistance, has better features, fingerprint scanner is very fast and much more.

But then the complaints started pouring in. Some Ships without operating system, it’s actually a metal and glass brick in a box. Owners started complaining about the screen and after a week we saw signs combustion event. A problem that most LED displays show over time, but not after a week.

Google fast addressed these issues in two blog postspromised the screen had no “real life” issues and extended the warranty to 2 years. The problem is, Google’s warranty doesn’t specifically mention the biggest part of the phone, the 6-inch OLED display. According to Google there is nothing wrong with the display so how can buyers get a replacement if it is not covered. This is just one of the many reasons why we suggest you switch to the Pixel 2 XL or wait until everything is clear.

Don’t get me wrong, the Pixel 2 is still a good phone. The screen is alarming, but not terrible. It’s not as great as Samsung’s or Apple’s screens. That said, our slideshow below goes into more detail about the Pixel 2 XL case and why you shouldn’t buy it yet.
