Last year, the OnePlus Ace 2V graced the market as the Nord 3 beyond the borders of China, presenting users with a delightful amalgamation of performance, battery longevity, and premium features. All of this was packaged at a reasonable price point for a midrange device. However, the Nord 3 failed to garner the attention it truly deserved due to its lackluster design and fierce competition from rival brands.
And now, with the arrival of its successor, the OnePlus Ace 3V, which may debut as the Nord 4, I felt compelled to delve into the new enhancements and upgrades that OnePlus has orchestrated this year. Could this device potentially reach the heights of success achieved by the original Nord or even the Nord 2? Here are my initial impressions of the OnePlus Nord 3V.

While the official nomenclature is yet to be confirmed if it will be christened the Nord 4, for the time being, I shall refer to it as the Ace 3V in this discourse. Design and Build
The initial spectacle that seized my gaze was the novel camera ensemble adorning the rear facade. The grand lenses perched atop each other within a pill-shaped island evoked fond memories of the esteemed OnePlus 9 series, albeit with a subtle curvature that elevated the design paradigm to new heights.
The device’s edges lay flat, culminating in a seamless curve at the base, rendering it pleasantly ergonomic to grasp. The regal hue of soft purple enrobing this gadget exuded gracefulness, complemented by the matte finish of the glass back that not only accentuated its aesthetic but also provided a secure grip while resisting unsightly fingerprints.
A delightful revelation ensued as I espied the presence of the alert slider in its rightful place. Although, a mite lower placement would have better suited the grandeur of this device. Whether perusing Instagram scrolls or imbibing YouTube content, the display weaves a tapestry of vibrant hues that resonate with the soul. Positioned as a midrange marvel, the display exudes an unwavering brilliance that transcends the confines of its price bracket.
In a delightful coup, the display prowess of the Ace 3V rivals the revered Poco F5, a benchmark in midrange display excellence. Ensconced within the display lies the fingerprint sensor, albeit stationed at a slightly incongruous lower level. Thus, one must occasionally adjust the phone within the palm to unlock its mysteries. A loftier placement would indeed have elicited plaudits.
Blessed with a dual stereo configuration, the Ace 3V’s auditory performance, while satisfactory, fails to elicit a standing ovation. The audio output, while voluminous, lacks the depth to enrapture the senses. Perhaps a dollop of Dolby Atmos support, as speculated for the global release, would have amplified the auditory ecstasy.
Performance & Benchmarks
Traditionally, OnePlus devices prioritize performance over camera prowess, a legacy upheld admirably by the Ace 3V. Hence, a foray into the realm of performance seemed apt. The device heralds the debut of the potent Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, a veritable powerhouse of an octa-core CPU crafted on the 4nm TSMC architecture.
Paired with the Adreno 732 GPU, up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, the Ace 3V exudes a potent aura that promises a seamless, almost flagship-grade user experience. The benchmarks, a litmus test of the device’s mettle, underscored its supremacy among midrange contenders, bridging the chasm to the exalted Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with aplomb.
In practical usage, the Ace 3V unfurled a splendid tapestry of smooth navigation, bereft of glitches or stutters that mar the user experience. A day spent in blissful harmony with the device unveiled a paragon of performance that forestalls criticism and instead beckons adulation.
A dalliance with gaming, especially the demanding Warzone Mobile, remained elusive owing to the Chinese variant of Color OS adorning the device. Consequently, the Play Store’s obstinate refusal to cooperate dashed hopes of indulging in gaming reveries. Nevertheless, the Ace 3V’s prowess intimates a smooth gameplay experience bereft of compromises on graphical fidelity.
Camera and Video Quality
The camera suite of the Ace 3V emerges as a tantalizing enigma, beckoning exploration. Sporting two sensors on the rear, a departure from the erstwhile triumvirate, the device boasts a 50MP Sony IMX 882 sensor with OIS and a modest 8MP Ultra Wide sensor. A palatable compromise if the sensors deliver stellar performance.
Ascending to the light of day, the primary camera captures scenes with commendable acuity, preserving details with finesse. Exposure management in diurnal environs basks in adequacy, ensuring a visually appealing output that delights the senses.
Upon the astral embrace of nightfall, the Ace 3V’s lens assumes a somber enchantment, capturing ample light to showcase the nocturnal realm in all its grandeur. Alas, a dearth of intricate details mars the portrait, a feeble specter that resides in the shadows. Yet, the absence of graininess in the visage of night is a testament to the OIS’s grace, albeit besmirched by processing delays that lend a blurry veneer to motion.
Venturing into the realm of videography, the Ace 3V ascends to the summit of 4K video capture at 60 FPS, unravelling a visual feast that titillates the senses. The scant footage I espied bore the imprint of diurnal prowess, accentuated by the OIS’s artful touch that smoothened the reel with finesse.
Nevertheless, room for improvement lingered in the shadows, whispering promises of sensorial refinement in the global iteration. An opportunity to explore the wide-angle lens lay dormant, reserved for the veneration of an in-depth critique that would unveil its true guise.
Battery And Charging
Inheriting a corporeal heft and augmented dimensions from its lineage, the Ace 3V bears the mantle of a 5,500mAh battery, a bequest augmented by 500mAh compared to its forebear. The apotheosis arrives in the form of a 100W SuperVOOC fast charger that graciously accompanies the device.
Amidst the throes of time, the battery’s vigils did not wane, steadfast in its duty even under the arduous strain of consecutive benchmarks that sought to tax the device to its limit. Thus, the Ace 3V’s fortified 5,500mAh battery portends a day-long respite, even amidst the tumultuous throes of gaming.
Moreover, the device embraces modern connectivity standards with open arms, offering Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a dual SIM card slot. A dalliance with my Jio 5G SIM card revealed speeds that ascended to the heavens, reaching a zenith of 372 Mbps within the hallowed halls of the Moyens I/O office.
OnePlus Ace 3V: The Wait for Nord 4 Begins
In lieu of an exhaustive dissertation on battery life, connectivity, and the cameras, my sojourn with the device was ephemeral.
