What was just a rumor in the streaming industry will become reality. Starting in the second quarter of 2024, platforms Disney+ It is Star+ will unify their contents.
The news was confirmed in a statement released by The Walt Disney Company of Latin America. According to the company, the intention is to offer subscribers a unique streaming experience.
If you were planning to subscribe to any of these platforms, you should be aware of these changes. Diego Lerner, who is president of Disney in Latin America, says that the integration of the services will provide an “improved and superior experience” for subscribers.
“This integration will allow the unparalleled strength of our content to be available in a single application, providing an improved and superior experience, as well as simplified access to subscribers, who are always at the center of our strategies,” he says.

The great advantage of this union will certainly be the expansion of content offered to subscribers.
In a single application, there will be series, films, Disney documentaries, Pixar productions, Marvel, ‘Star Wars’National Geographic and others.
The strategy is also part of Disney’s plan to try to increase the number of subscribers. Launched in 2019, the company’s streaming platform currently has around 146 million subscribers worldwide.
This number, however, was once higher. In the first half of this year alone, the service lost 12 million subscribers. The sudden drop set off alarm bells at Disney.
Sister companies
Meanwhile, Star+, which is a newer platform, launched in 2021, has been standing out with successful productions, such as the series ‘The Bear’one of the most acclaimed of 2023.
The platform also belongs to the Disney group, which makes it easier to join forces with its “sister company”. It has been attracting attention in the market and accumulating subscribers around the world.
To give you an idea, one year after its launch, in 2022, Star+ already had almost 23 million subscribers. The merger with Disney+ should greatly increase this number.
