For some time now, rumors about a “Final Fantasy IX” remake have been gaining more and more momentum. What’s rumor and what’s real in ‘Final Fantasy IX Remake’?
The content producer emphasizes that while it is true that a “Final Fantasy IX” remake is in development, he has not provided any additional information about the project since the podcast. Giant Bomb. Therefore, any news related to the game attributed to him is false.
Content producer Jeff Grubb cautioned that while he has not discussed “Final Fantasy IX” in recent weeks, rumors have persisted on blogs, Twitter and YouTube as if he had provided new or different information. He clarified that he had simply stated that the remake is, without a doubt, real.
:I haven’t talked about FF9 in weeks, yet these rumors keep circulating on blogs, Twitter, and YouTube as if I’ve said something new or different. All I’ve said is that [o jogo] is definitely real, which of course it is.”
“Final Fantasy IX”, released on July 7, 2000 for the PlayStation 1, was praised for bringing the franchise back to its medieval fantasy roots, in contrast to previous titles such as “Final Fantasy” 6, 7 and 8, which featured more technological and modern themes and aesthetics.
The game’s story revolves around a group of thieves known as Tantalus, who are tasked with kidnapping Princess Garnet from the Kingdom of Alexandria. However, they are unaware that Garnet, who feels trapped in the castle, is desperate to escape.
Upon its release, “Final Fantasy IX” received critical and commercial acclaim, achieving an average of 93.32 on GameRankings and 94 on Metacritic.
Additionally, the game sold an impressive 5.5 million copies exclusively for the PlayStation 1. Over time, the RPG also received remastered versions for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
