The history of Zorro will soon receive some great news, which concerns the adaptation of its plot into a comic book. The creator of this production will be Sean Gordon Murphy, one of the big names behind “Batman: White Knight”, a comic book by DC Comics.
However, the project is still in the process of evolution, but there is no specific publisher involved in the process. Furthermore, the title “Zorro: Man of the Dead” is provisional, as there is no forecast for the official name of the comic to be revealed. And if you want to know more about this project, keep reading!
Story Plot
Information shared by close sources indicates that the backdrop will be modern times, that is, the story will not be set in the past, but rather in the present day, or perhaps in a more distant future.
As for the plot that will be present in the story, it has not yet been revealed. All we know is that Murphy is in the process of developing this new project.
The cartoonist and screenwriter also added the following:
“I’m starting concept art for my next comic series, tentatively titled ‘Zorro: Man of the Dead’. I’ve personally licensed the rights, so it will be published under my new banner. More details soon!”.

However, there is a lot of buzz surrounding the rights to Zorro, which, if not handled correctly, could prevent the story from being made available.
What happened to Zorro’s rights?
The copyright case for Zorro is a bit confusing, since the production was created in the mid-1920s, which would mean that the story would already have been in the public domain, but that is not what happened.
The reason why the rights were not granted to the public is due to Zorro Productions Inc., a company developed by the children of Mitchell Gertz, who had received the rights to the story years ago from Johnston McCulley, the true owner and creator of the production.
Now, the company Zorro Productions claims that the story of Zorro is under their control.
