‘A Walk in Hell’: terrifying comic book from the creator of ‘The Boys’ will have a Portuguese version

“The Boys”, before being a television series, was a comic book created by Garth Ennis and by artist Darick Robertson. The plot, like the adaptation made by Prime Video, brought a subversive and critical view of the superhero genre, calling into question the idea of power and how it can transform people.

The central premise of “The Boys” revolves around a group of vigilantes, led by Billy Butcher, who seek to control and, if necessary, eliminate superheroes who abuse their powers.

This was just one of the creations of Garth Ennis, who, between the 1990s and 2000s, was one of the most sought-after screenwriters of the time. However, after launching “The Boys“, Ennis’s career underwent several changes, in particular declines due to the increasing repetitions of his content.

Garth Ennis was born in Northern Ireland and has emerged as one of the most influential and provocative comics writers of his generation. He has always shown that he is willing to address mature, controversial and political themes in his works, deviating from the traditional content of comics and superhero narratives.

His notable entry into the world of comics occurred with “Hellblazer”, starring occultist John Constantine. But it was with “Preacher,” a series he created in collaboration with Steve Dillon, that Ennis solidified his status as a storyteller.

“Preacher” tells the story of Jesse Custer, a Texan preacher who is possessed by an entity supernatural and begins a quest to find God, defying many religious and social conventions along the way. It’s a combination of Ennis’ acidic humor and criticism of religion.

However, currently, it has resurfaced and brought with it yet another narrative. Titled “Um Passeio no Inferno”, the comic was only available in the USA, but will now have its version in Brazil.

A new story

From everyday life to supernatural disruption, FBI agents Shaw and McGregor embark on a journey that challenges their understanding of the world as they know it.

Masterfully drawn by Goran Sudzuka, the narrative is intensely illustrated with striking and viscerally violent scenes, immersed in similar situations of eschatology that impact the reader’s perception.

This plot, centered on the dense and frightening atmosphere typical of horror genre, proved to be extremely effective, causing intense and unforgettable chills in those who ventured through its pages. Due to its overwhelming success, the publisher Alta Geek is proud to present a national edition of the work.
