The renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese had a meeting last Wednesday (31) with Pope Francis to discuss his next cinematographic project, a film about the life of Jesus.
The meeting was brief, but quite significant, marking another chapter in the director’s journey of bringing the story of the Christian messiah to life on cinema screens.
The news was confirmed by the Vatican, bringing excitement about the collaboration between Scorsese and the prominent figure of Catholic church.
A meeting to share project details
Antonio Spadaro, undersecretary of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, shared details about the dialogue between Scorsese and the Pope, highlighting their mutual passion and interest in the figure of Jesus.
The filmmaker, known for his acclaimed works such as the recent ‘Assassins of the Flower Moon’ and ‘Taxi Driver’, expressed a desire to realize the project after a previous meeting with the pontiff in 2023.
