O Procon-SP took strong action this Wednesday (29), notifying HBO Brasil as a result of recent changes to the HBO Max streaming service, which is now just called Max in Brazil.
Subscribers report changes to their contracts without prior information or consent.
The platform, in turn, which encompasses not only the programming of the HBO Maxbut other brands in the group, including Home & Health, ID, Discovery Kids, among others, are now under investigation by the consumer protection agency in São Paulo.
Therefore, Procon-SP is now seeking explanations about the reasons behind the change and whether it will result in changes to existing offers.
Procon requires further clarification
HBO has until today, Tuesday (5), to clarify details about future changes in prices and how consumers will be informed about these changes.
The agency demands transparency about the conditions under which the service was provided before the transition and what it will be like after the transformation to Max.
In addition HBO will have to explain whether the transition is mandatory and for what reasons the service will be limited on the Max platform.

The Brazilian press tried to contact the HBO for clarification, but at the time of publishing this report, there was no response.
The space remains open for demonstrations by the company.
Max: a new era of streaming?
Launched as HBO Max in 2020, the over-the-top subscription video streaming service underwent a significant change last Tuesday, becoming Max across the board. Latin America and in the Caribbean.
The platform, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery offers a variety of content, including productions from Warner Bros., Discovery Channel, HBO, CNN, Cartoon Network, among others.
