Again? How ‘The Simpsons’ Predicted Willy Wonka Expo’s Failure

The cartoon ‘The Simpsons’ It is famous around the world for the story built over decades of exhibition. One aspect involving the production, however, still draws attention today: the capacity for premonition.

There were so many episodes and situations reported in the cartoon, that many of them were, in fact, confirmed in reality, some time later. This earned the animation the status of clairvoyant, which even became a meme on social media.

The most recent case is related to the ‘Willy Wonka Experience’, an immersive exhibition that took place in Glasgow, Scotland, and became highlighted on the internet last week, due to the unusual presentation.

Parents and children were frustrated and scared by what they witnessed. The exhibition organizers had to close the doors hours after opening to avoid a bigger failure.

The event description promised “a celebration of sweetness and imagination”, inspired by the film ‘Wonka’ (2023) and also in the book by Roald Dahl. In practice, however, it wasn’t quite like that.

It is important to mention that the exhibition was not made by the film’s producer and had no connection with the promotion of the feature film.

Simpsons ‘predicted’ the exhibition’s failure

As soon as the case became news and had repercussions in social mediathe most attentive fans of ‘The Simpsons’ immediately remembered an episode of the cartoon that portrays a situation very similar to that which occurred in Scotland.

The season five episode ‘Bart’s Inner Child’ shows Homer Simpson telling his wife, Marge, that he intends to open a playground in their backyard called ‘Homerland’.

To enter the place, each person had to pay US$50. There, they could have fun with attractions such as: Trampoline World, a type of trampoline that could only be used by each child once per hour, Mudville USA, a large puddle of mud, and Fort Adventure, a huge pile of dirty mattresses.
