There was a time when Netflix was an ideal alternative to piracy. For a very attractive (at the time) price, the user had access to a catalog of quality TV series and movies without risking installing malware and other illegal downloading pleasures. Since then, however, water has flowed under the bridge and audiences have found themselves assailed with offers from all sides that continue to drive up prices.
Result: Internet users are increasingly returning to piracy. There aren’t many solutions to bring them back and convince those who can’t decide: Lower prices or sign a deal with another publisher. Apple TV+, which failed to reduce its prices, preferred the second solution. In France, the service has been included in the Canal+ subscription at no additional cost since April. And the company is already preparing for its next move.
Are Apple TV+ and Paramount+ strong in numbers?
In fact, the Wall Street Journal notes in a recent report that Apple is in the process of approaching Paramount to create a joint package from the two streaming offerings. For now, we have not received any real information about the progress of the negotiations or even the price envisaged by the two companies. However, it seems obvious that the second one will be more interesting than subscribing to the two platforms separately.
Neither company declined to comment on the information to the Wall Street Journal. Therefore, we will have to wait a bit to find out the contents of this agreement – if it is indeed completed. However, there is no doubt that this package will be of great benefit to Paramount+, which has struggled to find a place in the streaming market since its launch last year.
