On Tuesday, September 12, Apple’s annual bash — get the iPhone 15 presentation keynote — was spoiled a bit by a surprise announcement from the National Frequency Agency (ANFR). The regulator actually ordered the Apple brand to immediately stop marketing the iPhone 12. What is the reason? Wave emissions above the limit defined by the authorities.
If Apple’s priority is of course towards newer models, we honestly expected that the company would not give up on its smartphones. Moreover, as Jean-Noël Barrot, the minister responsible for the digital transition, noted, a simple software update would be enough to solve the problem. There was absolutely no need to ask the manufacturer.
Apple will continue iPhone 12 sales in France, phew
Indeed, according to AFP, “Apple will update iPhone 12 to comply with rules European”. There is no information about the arrival date of this update, but we can bet that it will not take too long. As a reminder, ANFR gave the Cupertino company 15 days to fix the problem on its smartphones.
Also remember that if you still have your iPhone 12, the dangers to your health are relatively less. The smartphone is only slightly above the threshold imposed by European regulations, which is itself set as a very low limit. Therefore, the future update should not suddenly change the way the device works.
However, since it is necessary to reduce wave emissions, Apple runs the risk of having to restrict the iPhone 12. Therefore, it is better to wait for a lower than usual 5G speed and a more capricious network signal, although this may differ with the current smartphone performance. It will most likely be minimal.
