Steam: latest update brings Notes and a more precise search

When you open Steam today, you may notice a few changes to Valve’s client. Indeed, the firm has released a new update that brings many of the new features that are still in beta until now. Especially last month we were talking to you about the much more precise search for new games. It is now available to the general public.

Concretely, Steam now relies on searches made by players to provide more relevant results. For example, if you search for a license or development studio, the client will show the most popular game among them. But that’s not the only innovation, as Valve has also added a few widgets to choose from.

Steam now lets you take notes on your favorite games

Among them are Notes, which, as the name suggests, allows you to take notes about your ongoing games. An NPC you plan to see again later, a chest to open, all this can now be kept in these small documents so you never forget it again. Even better, it’s possible to view your notes in the top layer of your game and save them to the cloud.

Finally, Valve made some minor visual changes to Steam, including a new font for the Desktop version and a new design for the notifications tab. Same story on the downloads side now displaying the game icon for better navigation. Added to all this are the usual few bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is available on Desktop and smartphone.
