Enabling Two-Factor Authentication in Telegram

You can never be too safe and sure when it comes to your online security. If given the opportunity, you should always increase the security of your accounts to avoid problems later. The good thing is that platforms like Telegram give you better security option.

Like most social media and messaging platforms, Telegram lets you enable 2FA or two-factor authentication for better security. What is it and what does it do?

What is Two-Factor Authentication in Telegram and Why Is It Important?

Two-factor authentication is a form of security management where anyone trying to log into an account will have to go through two authentication methods instead of one. Besides the account password, you must also provide OTP, fingerprint scan, face scan or other security measures.

Instagram, Facebook and almost all online platforms have two-factor authentication. Each platform adapts its own metric for two-factor authentication.

In Telegram, you must provide a one-time code sent to your registered number when logging into a new device. When two-factor authentication is enabled, you must also provide a password to log in.

The primary purpose of 2FA is to make your Telegram account extra secure by preventing unauthorized access.
