New pricing tools available to developers more flexibility in pricing apps, in-app purchases (IAPs), and subscriptionsThis, in turn, can enable consumers to enjoy better value for money where prices would otherwise have rounded off. This change comes shortly after Apple’s big cleanup on the App Store.
Until now, developers did not have the full power to set prices. These were limited to $1,000 for one application, for example, so we’ve seen some applications such as “I’m Rich” by Armin Heinrich reaching $999. From now on, developers have a little more freedom to choose their pricing as new options are added.
As Apple explains, new price points gradually increase across all price ranges. For example, developers can raise prices by $0.10 up to $9.99From $0.50 to $49.99 and from $1 to $199.99.
Finally, developers can now change pricing to automatically adapt to different regions based on exchange rates. Apple says this new pricing structure is now available for apps on auto-renewable subscriptions. It will apply to all apps and in-app purchases in spring 2023.
