On September 11, shortly after the iOS 9 release date was confirmed, Apple approved an iOS 9.1 update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The company did not confirm this with an on-stage announcement. Instead, it confirmed its arrival with a release in the beta testing program.
iOS 9.1 represents the first major update to Apple’s brand new iOS operating system and will follow in the footsteps of the other iOS 9 update that Apple has released to the public. These include iOS 9.0.1 and today’s iOS 9.0.2 update.
While there are bug fixes to iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2, they are not as exciting as Apple’s upcoming iOS 9.1 release. While the update should come with its own collection of fixes, Apple’s first milestone upgrade will come with new emojis, including the middle finger. If you use emojis, you should be excited for iOS 9.1.
