It was a surprise release, but the release of Pangu’s iOS 9 jailbreak has been a huge relief for those who want to jailbreak their devices running iOS 9. The new version of iOS was released last month and it’s been almost a month since iOS 9 was released.
This means that the release of the iOS 9 jailbreak is one of the fastest we’ve seen in a while when it comes to an all-new version of iOS. The iOS 8.4 jailbreak arrived just hours after the update was released, but when it comes to major new releases, the iOS 9 jailbreak is the fastest ever.
While TaiG took over for iOS 8, Pangu provided us with the iOS 9 jailbreak and since the jailbreak tool is really easy to use, almost anyone can jailbreak their device without much knowledge or technical knowledge.
If you own the old iPad mini 2 and are wondering how the iOS 9 jailbreak performed on the device, I decided to jailbreak my own iPad mini 2 to give it a shot. Here’s what I’ve thought so far about the new jailbreak in Apple’s latest iOS release.
iOS 9 Jailbreak Installation
Pangu’s iOS 9 jailbreak tool is similar to jailbreak tools even past TaiG, and if you remember how the iOS 8.1 jailbreak tool was (it was from Pangu), you’ll feel right at home with iOS 9. Jailbreak installation process.
The tool only works on Windows, but that shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as that was the case when a new jailbreak was released. However, a Mac version is coming soon enough, but there’s no talk of when that will happen, so you’re stuck with Windows for now.
The installation process was quick and painless, like tearing off a wet Band-Aid. Plug in your iPhone or iPad, disable Find My iPhone and turn on Airplane Mode, then let the tool do its thing for a few moments. Next, you’ll be greeted with a jailbroken device running iOS 9, which we’ve only been dreaming of recently.
iOS 9 Jailbreak Performance
Since I jailbreak iOS 9 on my iPad mini 2, I haven’t noticed a big change in performance compared to the iOS 8.4 jailbreak I used just before that.
Of course, the performance differences you notice are probably due to iOS 9 itself rather than the jailbreak.
Although the iPad mini 2 is starting to show its age, it still performs well. It’s still a capable tablet that’s great for casual users, and it’s the cheapest iPad Apple currently sells.
iOS 9 Jailbreak Battery Life
Battery life in iOS 9 is getting mixed results with users. Some say they experience better battery life with iOS 9 compared to iOS 8.4, while others say they get worse battery life. It’s obvious this will happen.
With iOS 9 jailbreak I get pretty much the same battery life as when I wasn’t jailbroken on iOS 9, so that’s definitely a good thing, especially considering that jailbreaking can only really ruin my battery life to have any effect in the first place.
In any case, I mostly play games on my iPad, which initially has huge batteries, so I usually charge my iPad every other day. Whereas, if I had just done some casual browsing, I could probably last at least a few days between charges.
iOS 9 Jailbreak Tweaks
The biggest reason to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad is obviously for jailbreak tweaks. That’s what provides all the great features you can take advantage of!
Unfortunately, not all jailbreak tweaks currently available work with iOS 9, so if you have iOS 9 jailbreak installed, you will have to wait a bit for the jailbreak developers to update their tweaks. Moreover, most of the popular tweaks like Activator, F.lux and Springtomize 3 have not been updated yet.
That said, in the next few weeks, the list of incompatible tweaks will get even shorter, but for now, there are some hurdles in this section.
