Pokemon Go Mega Banette Raids are debuting soon, which means learning the counters to catch another Ghost type option besides Gengar to use against these pesky Psychic types.

Hoenn region Mega Pokemon will be released during the 2022 Pokemon Go Halloween event and will appear periodically in Mega Raids. But its first run in Pokemon Go will run from October 20 to November 8.

To help trainers beat Mega Banette as fast as possible, we’ve developed this handy guide with the best counters and everything else players need to know about this Ghost-type Pokemon.

Mega Banette Raid Counters

Mega Banette is a pure Ghost-type Pokemon that makes it vulnerable to Dark and Ghost-type attacks.

Seasoned Pokemon fans know that Ghost Pokemon is a double-edged sword. They are both weak and super effective against the same species. Therefore, trainers can bring a Ghost-type team anchored by Mega Gengar into battle.

As we’ll get into in the next section, trainers will have to watch out for Mega Banette’s Ghost-type moves, but if they’re able to use powerful Ghost attacks and quickly reduce his HP to zero, that shouldn’t be an issue.

Other Ghost types like Giratina and Chandelure are great options to use in the purely Ghost team, but to be honest, Dark types are really the way to go against Mega Banette.

Dark types resist Ghost type attacks, so they don’t have much to worry about when facing Mega Banette. And there are three Mega Pokemon that are necessary for a completely Dark team and they are Mega Houndoom, Gyarados and Absol.

There are many Dark variants that can be used alongside this Mega Pokemon. Trainers can use Legendaries like Darkrai and Yveltal or Pseudolegendaries like Tyranitar and Hydreigon to overwhelm Mega Banette.

Mega Band Movement Set

Mega Banette has a surprising variety of Charged Attacks in Pokemon Go.

The first is the Shadow Ball, which is a Ghost-type attack. This does massive damage to your Ghost types, but doesn’t do much against the Dark types you bring into battle.

Dazzling Glow is a Fairy-type attack that can be problematic for trainers using an all-Dark suit. This move will deal super-effective damage to most Dark types and deal four times more damage to Pokemon like Hydreigon. This move will also deal super-effective damage to other Dragon types like Giratina, so this will be a problem if Mega Banette has it.

Mega Houndoom typing Fire makes Dazzling Gleam neutral on it, so it’s probably the superior option for a Dark-type Mega Pokemon.

Thunder is Mega Banette’s final Charged Attack option in Pokemon Go. While it will deal neutral damage to most of the above options and Dragon types like Giratina and Hydreigon will resist it, it will cause problems for some of our counter options. Mega Gyarados and Yveltal are weak against this attack, so they may not be the best choice against Thunder and Mega Banette.

Be sure to use the recommended screen before the battle begins. Mega Banette may not have Thunder or even Dazzling Gleam if you have Yveltal or Gyarados on the suggested screen.

Both of Mega Banette’s Quick Attack options are Ghost-type attacks, so only trainers using Ghost suits should know.
