Renowned Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has completed his latest report in the new issue of the Power On newsletter, which claims that a new “Ultra” model will appear in the next iPhone 15 series in 2023. The iPhone 15 Ultra is not a new model, but a simple replacement for the current Pro Max version.
Therefore, the next iPhone 15 series would still consist of 4 models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra. This new name obviously reminds us of Android smartphones like the Galaxy S22 Ultra or the recently released Xiaomi 12S Ultra. However, Apple now also has its own Ultra devices in its catalog, including the new Apple Watch Ultra or M1 Ultra chip. Therefore, an iPhone Ultra model can harmonize different series of the American giant.
iPhone 15 Ultra comes with USB-C connection
According to Gürman, Apple makes major changes to its iPhones every three years. Therefore, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro users who want to switch to iPhone 14 Pro may better wait for the next series.
The journalist confirmed that the next iPhone 15 will all switch to USB-C connectivity. The next iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Ultra will feature a new A17 chip carved at 3 nm by TSMC in 2023, as well as a periscope sensor that offers even more efficient optical zoom. we also know all devices in the series will benefit from the new design offered by the iPhone 14 ProWith a pill and Dynamic Island feature at the top of the screen.
For now It’s unclear whether the arrival of the Ultra version will mean Apple will further differentiate it from the Pro model. Since the iPhone 14 has just been released, it will likely take a few months to know if this new model will take advantage of special features or an even more interesting technical sheet.
