The new ceiling fans from the well-known ceiling fan manufacturer Hunter Fan Company offer a surprising feature (good for ceiling fans): HomeKit integration.
The new HomeKit-enabled fans mean you can soon not only control your fan with Siri, but integrate it into an increasingly rich array of smart home automation products.
The two fans each offer Scenes and Triggers – although you can always intervene manually, the fun comes when you start connecting them to your HomeKit-enabled thermostat. If it turns on the air conditioner, for example, you can have your Hunter fans turn on automatically (this is an example of a trigger). A scene might include turning the fan down, dimming your HomeKit-enabled lights, and locking your HomeKit-enabled smart slider.
The two fans are largely identical except for their external appearance; most Symphony bright white is a modern wonder, signal Designed with a satin nickel enclosure, reversible burnt oak / reclaimed walnut blades.
Each also has dimmable LED bulbs at the base.
It’s an interesting move for the fan company that’s been around for nearly 130 years, and a way to stay in the spotlight in tech-filled homes.
If you find yourself craving one of these smart… fans… you can grab one from your favorite big-box home improvement store (think Lowe’s, Home Despot, etc.). The modern white Symphony costs $329, while Signal’s brush metal and reclaimed walnut cost up to $379.
The price includes an extra hand remote to control both the fan and the lamp, but only in case your phone runs out of juice.
