How to Remove Credit Card from Apple Pay

Apple Pay launched with much fanfare last week, but if that’s not quite your cup of tea, here’s how to remove a credit card from Apple Pay on your iPhone 6.

Apple Pay lets you store your credit card information on your iPhone and use it to make purchases at any store that supports Apple Pay. iPhone 6 has an NFC chip that lets you tap a payment terminal in a store to buy goods instantly. Also, doing this doesn’t give the store your credit card information, so you’ll be less susceptible to store hacks that steal credit card information, similar to the latest Home Depot and Target hacks.

Apple Pay also works with mobile shopping apps, allowing you to make one-touch payments on the Touch ID fingerprint sensor in shopping apps that support the feature.

However, the new payment platform is not accepted everywhere and many banks are not yet supported, making Apple Pay useless for some users.

Also, the new payment system has seen its fair share of problems so far. Some users are charged twice when using Apple Pay in stores, and one user claims to be charged twice when shopping at Whole Foods using a Bank of America debit card via Apple Pay. Bank of America states that this particular issue has ended and is working on a fix.

Also, some stores don’t even properly train their employees on how to accept Apple Pay. One Reddit user said he went to Subway and the cashier didn’t know how to run an Apple Pay transaction, the cashier couldn’t understand how to use it, and “then a QR code appeared on the terminal, but it was there.” there was no scan option on my phone.”

Another thing that has users scratching their heads is how returns are handled if you paid for the product using Apple Pay. One user says that returning an item in CVS requires swiping the credit card on which the item was purchased, but since you can’t quite do that with Apple Pay, this essentially forced the cashier to override the system to return the money.

So, if you’ve added a credit card to your Apple Pay account but aren’t really seeing the benefits of it, here’s how to remove credit cards from Apple Pay and get on with your life.

Removing Card from Apple Pay

Luckily removing a credit or debit card from Apple Pay is really easy and actually faster than adding a card, making it even harder to cancel a service by seeing how many don’t want you to leave.

There are two ways to remove a credit or debit card from your Apple Pay account:

  1. Open the application.
  2. Tap on it.
  3. Tap the credit or debit card you want to remove.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom and tap on it.
  5. Tap on it when the confirmation popup appears.

The second way to remove a card is to enter Apple Pay, but it’s as easy as this:

  1. Open the application.
  2. Tap the credit or debit card you want to remove.
  3. Tap the small circular “i” icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom and tap on it.
  5. Tap on it when the confirmation popup appears.

That is all! Repeat these steps if you have more than one card you want to remove.

We certainly can’t blame those who don’t benefit from Apple Pay, especially if Apple Pay isn’t accepted in the stores most visited by users. And with all these bugs and other issues Apple Pay has been encountering lately, we’re not surprised that some iOS users are willing to wait a bit before the system is OK.

On the other hand, if you want to know how to set up Apple Pay, we have a handy guide for just that.
