The Sims 4 multiplayer is one of the most requested features of the game. While EA teases for the future, the only option right now is to use Sims 4 mods to play with other people online. Previous versions have made attempts to combine online items with varying levels of success, but – at least officially – there’s still no way to connect regions in The Sims 4. What did EA say about The Sims 4 multiplayer?
If EA CEO Andrew Wilson’s comments are any indication – and you should hope they are – something the company is considering is an online future. This statement is from the third quarter of EA’s FY2020 earnings call.
“As Maxis continues to think of The Sims for the next generation – cross-platforms and a cloud of a neighborhood world, you must always imagine that we will stay true to our inspiration, escape, creativity, personal growth, motivations – that’s what The Sims Online has been for many years ago. The concept of social interactions and competition, like things that happen – will begin to be a part of The Sims experience for years to come.
We are very excited. This is a game that really has no competition in its category to provide and fulfill those motivations for the players, and we consider tremendous growth opportunities for us over the years to come.”
How to use The Sims 4 multiplayer mode
The Sims community has created a serious mod to bring the multiplayer game to The Sims 4. The Sims 4 Multiplayer mode is designed to let you play with other people in real time on a local network. The mod basically uses a computer as a server and this allows up to 12 players to join the same game.
