Xiaomi first introduced the ability to capture scrolling screenshots, i.e. long screenshots, in MIUI, and other smartphone manufacturers have done the same. Recently, OnePlus introduced the scrolling screenshot feature with the OnePlus 5, and it’s pretty cool. Capturing long or scrolling screenshots can be really handy in some situations. Instead of sending multiple screenshots, you can send one long screenshot that includes all the details you want to share in one image. This will come in handy especially when you want to send screenshots of your chats from messaging apps. So don’t worry if your OEM doesn’t offer the scrolling screenshots feature natively, there are ways to take scrolling screenshots on any Android device:
Take Scrolling Screenshots on Android Using Third-Party Apps
There are a number of third-party apps that try to emulate the scrolling screenshot functionality from MIUI and Oxygen OS. However, I would like to clarify that none of the apps available in the Play Store bring you as good an experience as you get on natively supported platforms. Having said that, they get the job done (somewhat), so here are the best practices to get the scrolling screenshot feature on your device:

Long shot
LongShot is one of the better apps that does this. When you start the application, you will see that it has three basic functions; take screenshots, capture web page and select pre-taken screenshots to combine them in a single file. The best way to take a scrolling screenshot is to use the “Capture Screenshot” method. It doesn’t seem to work in my use, although they do include a button that allows auto-capture. Other than that, performance is good.
- “When you tap onCapture ScreenshotPress the ” button and an overlay with a start button will be shown on your screen. Launch the app you want to screenshot and tap the start button when you’re ready. Slowly scroll the page up to the point where you want to take the screenshot.
2. When you are done, press the done button. After pressing the Done button, you will be automatically taken back to the application where you will see the individual screenshots. Just hit join button and app will merge individual screenshots.
3. In my use, the app could perfectly join the image almost every time. But if you are not satisfied with the result, you can manually change the stitch points by pressing the “Set” button located on each joint.

Scroll Capture
If you think the process is a bit complicated with the above app, Scroll Capture is an app that does it all with a single tap of the button. Again, this only works with web pages. When you launch the application, you will only see a web browser interface. Follow the process to take the screenshot.
one. enter URL you want to take a screenshot. Note that the web interface does not support search functionality, so you will need to enter the full URL.
2. After the websites are loaded, just tap the capture button and wait a few seconds. The application will automatically take a screenshot of the entire website. You don’t have to stitch the images or anything like that.

Bonus Apps
There are other similar applications that perform more or less the same functions. Upright and Share One of them. It is similar to LongShot in terms of functionality. You can use either one to achieve the same result. another app Screenshot Common, which only allows you to combine two photos. But you can combine images not only vertically but also horizontally. Again, none of these apps come close to the inbuilt scrolling screenshot functionality experience, but they get the job done.
