The new MacBook Pro may share one of the most controversial iPhone 7 features, forcing you to buy an essential new MacBook Pro accessory.
Apple is sending out surveys for the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display asking users if they are using the headphone port on the MacBook Pro Retina.
We see that companies frequently use product surveys to influence the design and features coming in new products. Apple didn’t ask similar questions for the iPhone 7 on a large scale. This time around it seems to reach a wide range of users.
Users say that Apple polls ask “Have you ever used the headphone port on your Macbook Pro with Retina Display?” he says he asked. Dan Mastersona singer, songwriter, and pianist states that this is the third way Apple has asked the same fundamental question in a recent email poll.
Apple may remove the Macbook Pro headphone jack in the future.
Last week Apple announced the iPhone 7 and removed the headphone jack to make room for other internal upgrades. The new iPhone 7 comes with Lightning headphones and a Lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter.
The controversial decision to remove the iPhone 7 headphone jack isn’t as big of a dust for audio professionals as it was on the MacBook Pro Retina. Responses to Masterson’s tweet include users ready for change.
Apple’s Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) is “weak” by the way He told Twitter user Kyle, “I understand Apple’s sensitivity to remove analog audio from the signal chain as much as possible. Change = good.”
The new Apple AirPods and new Beats headphones automatically pair with the iPhone 7 when you open it near the iPhone 7, and this pairing automatically pairs with the MacBook via iCloud.
MacRumors It reports that Apple is also asking users questions about the SD card, battery life, and other ports they use.
All of these questions are potentially more exciting with the prospect of a 2016 MacBook Pro release date on the horizon in October, but if this new model is coming, it’s too late to include changes from surveys like this one.
All signs suggest that the 2016 MacBook Pro Retina will include four USB C ports and a headphone jack. These survey questions point to preparing for the 2017 Macbook Pro release and refresh.
