Apple’s macOS Mojave has brought the much-anticipated “Dark Mode” to Apple’s desktop operating system and it looks amazing. However, not everyone is a fan of the dark mode.
Most users prefer the limited dark mode which used to dim only the Menu bar and Dock and leave everything else in light mode. Get the Dock with Dark Menu Bar and Light Mode in macOS Mojave
We’ll take the help of Terminal on your Mac to get the dark menu bar and return. If you’ve never used the terminal before, don’t worry; You will not find this tutorial difficult. So, if you’re ready, let’s get started:
- Firstly, Click on Apple Menu and Select System Preferences.
2. Here, under General Settings, Choose “Light Mode”.
3. Now open terminal By going to your Applications folder or simply by searching in Spotlight.
4. Now, just copy and paste the following command and hit enter/return:
defaults -g write NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance -bool Yes
5. Now Quit Terminal and log out of your computer By clicking on the Apple Menu and then logging back in.
6. After logging in again, open General Settings from the System Preferences panel, as in step two. Again, Choose “Dark” instead of “Light”.
That’s all you have to do. Now when you select Dark Mode in macOS Mojave, it will only apply the setting to your Dock and Menu bar as before. If you want to revert to macOS Mojave’s original dark mode setting, reuse the entire process. The only thing that needs to change is the code used in the Terminal. You will need to replace “Yes” with “No” or copy and paste the following command:
defaults write -g NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance -bool No
