Rumors continue to point to some big changes to Apple’s iPad lineup. The company is reportedly going to upgrade the iPad Pro lineup, but it looks like the company may also replace the long-running iPad Air 2.
It’s been nearly two and a half years since Apple released the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2. While the iPad Air 3 rumors were stirring, the company kept the aging device on the shelves. This is starting to change.
There may be an iPad Air 3 release in 2017.

Apple currently has the iOS 10.3 update in beta and there are speculations that it could ship with new iPads in March.
Apple often hosts an early event to bridge the gap between the iPhone launch and WWDC. Last year, the company announced the iPhone SE and a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro during its March launch event.
The iPad Air 3 rumors point to a modest upgrade with a processor boost expected to be one of the key specs. Rumors suggest that the budget iPad will feature the A9 processor found in the company’s iPhone 6s smartphone.
While upgrades to the iPad Pro and iPad Air series are expected, nothing seems to be coming soon for Apple’s iPad mini series.
Apple’s last iPad mini refresh, the iPad mini 4, arrived alongside the company’s original iPad Pro in September 2015.
