macOS High Sierra Issues: 5 Things You Need to Know Now

There are some macOS High Sierra issues you should be aware of before installing this upgrade on your Mac. We’ve compiled a list of how to fix common macOS High Sierra problems, but there are enough problems that you may not want to install macOS 10.13 at all.

Apple released High Sierra to the public last week as a free update for any Mac capable of running macOS Sierra. There are already some issues and problems that you should be aware of. Even after months of testing, it’s not uncommon to see macOS High Sierra issues pop up as the release reaches a wider user base.

Just days after its release, Apple has also released the beta version of macOS 10.13.1, which is still in testing, to fix bugs, bugs, and macOS High Sierra issues. We don’t know the macOS 10.13.1 release date yet.

Apple changed the name from OS X to macOS last year, and this year the company is switching the file system to the new Apple File System, which promises a faster experience, but it also deserves caution when upgrading.

With macOS 10.13, Apple adds new Siri features, upgrades Safari, introduces key new Photo features, exciting Notes options, and fundamental laws for VR and external GPUs. There are also many great new iCloud features that will save you money.

Here’s what you need to know about the macOS High Sierra issues we’ve seen as this new update rolls out to users.

macOS High Sierra Installation Issues

We’re seeing some macOS High Sierra installation issues, but nothing critical or widespread. The biggest problem we saw was that the installer wouldn’t let us start the installation. It showed an error message stating,

“macOS installation could not continue. Installation requires downloading important content. This content is currently not available for download. Try again later.”

Trying to start the setup after a minute allowed this to continue, but you may have to try a few times or wait longer for this to work.

Some other users say that macOS High Sierra cannot be installed and says “macOS could not be installed on your computer. File system verification or repair failed.”

No Major macOS High Sierra Issues Yet

The really good news is that we haven’t heard of any show stopping macOS High Sierra issues yet. these may come up later as it was released earlier, but there are no major reports of High Sierra Issues after people have finished installing it.

Downloading and installing macOS High Sierra takes time, so that may change in the next 24 hours, but so far nothing major has come to tell us that you’re going to see a broken experience.

macOS High Sierra Has Issues

While nothing broke everyone’s Mac. there are already some macOS High Sierra issues. So far we’ve heard about some app compatibility issues and we’ve run into some installation issues. For some users there are enough problems that you should not install

If you are using Office for Mac 2011, will not work On macOS High Sierra. These apps will no longer have support after October 10, so don’t wait for Microsoft to release an update. Users on Office 2016 should have version 15.35 or higher to get the best support on macOS High Sierra.

Another notable standout in macOS High Sierra: Rejoining wifi is very slow when you wake your computer. Much slower than Sierra.

Slightly different from this version, some reports from GM say that when you wake the computer from sleep mode, the macOS High Sierra wifi takes a while to reconnect.

A matter of concern is cheat it can steal passwords from a Mac without the main application. This is not a common malicious attack at the moment. Hopefully it’s something Apple plans to fix soon.

Not Yet All Apps or Accessories Work with macOS High Sierra

Here’s what you need to know about macOS High Sierra issues.

Serato DJ does not run on macOS High Sierra, so suggest users not to upgrade yet. This is just the beginning. There are plenty of apps out of the bat that don’t work with macOS High Sierra. This list It’s compiled using GM so some of these will vary, but if you’re using a lot of apps you’ll need to check and see which ones aren’t working on High Sierra yet.

If you’re using VMWare Fusion 8.5.8, it’s not officially supported, but VMWare Fusion 10 supported as part of an upgrade coming out today. The list of apps and accessories that don’t work isn’t as big as we’ve seen in previous years, but it’s still important to check them if you use apps for work or school.

While macOS High Sierra supports the new iPhone 8 video format H.265, Final Cut Pro does not yet support it. Users who want to export iPhone 8 video to Final cut will need to convert it to Apple ProRes first. There is no word on when we can expect the Final Cut update. We also ran into issues exporting to YouTube from Final Cut Pro after upgrading to macOS High Sierra.

When you upgrade to macOS High Sierra, you may lose the ability to use Google Talk or Google Hangouts in the Messages app. Google support paid off earlier this year, and when your Mac tries to set up this option after upgrading, you may fail and be unable to post with Google Hangouts.

You Can Downgrade to macOS Sierra

If you have a Time Machine Backup of macOS Sierra, you can switch from macOS High Sierra to macOS Sierra without much trouble. Apple doesn’t restrict you from doing this the way you do on iOS, so you can test High Sierra and then decide to revert to macOS Sierra if the issues aren’t resolved fast enough.
