How to Control Headphone Volume in Real Time in iOS 14

In addition to acquiring the long-awaited sleep tracker, iOS 14 also improves already existing health features such as Hearing. Introduced in iOS 13 for the hearing impaired, Hearing allows users to avoid exposure to loud sounds. And with the latest update, you can even measure the volume of everything you’re listening to. If this health feature hasn’t caught your attention, let’s find out how you can control the headphone volume in real time on your iOS 14 device!

Check Headphone Volume in Real Time on iPhone and iPad

Before we start with the steps, it would be better to answer a few main questions.

So how do you know if the sound level is healthy?

According to experts, 85 decibels is the highest safe exposure level, up to a maximum of 8 hours. In particular, 100 dB of sound is considered safe for only 15 minutes a day. To put it right, as the volume increases, the safe listening time decreases.

This means that prolonged or repeated exposure to sounds of 85 dB or higher can cause permanent hearing loss. Therefore, if you find the sound level above 80 dB, you should reduce the volume to protect your hearing.

On Which Headphones Is This New Feature Supported?

Although the real-time headphone level feature is designed to support most headphones, the technology giant states that only Apple-certified headphones and AirPods can give more accurate results.
