Galaxy Note 4 tutorial: How to activate OK Google from lock screen

Today Samsung launched Galaxy Note 4. As you know, the phablet is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 processor, which besides offering outstanding performance, listening to your voice commandspermanently, even when the screen is turned off or locked.

As you should already know if you are used to Samsung terminals, the Galaxy Note is equipped with its own voice assistant, S Voice. However, it is possible to replace Samsung’s default voice assistant with Google’s, allowing you to use Google Assistant all the time, even when the screen is off, with the OK Google command. A function similar to what the Moto X could offer with contactless control.

How to use OK Google from lock screen?

  • see you on the menu Settings > Google > Search > Voice
  • Enable audio history
  • Click on “OK Google keyword detection”
  • Check the “From any screen” and “From the lock screen” boxes and click OK.
  • A Pop-up S Voice will open, click on the microphone and say “OK Google”

Now Ok Google can be used from any screen and lock screen. If it doesn’t work at all, it’s because you don’t have the latest version of Google Play Service yet, which is highly unlikely. This tutorial only Snapdragon 805 version of Galaxy Note 4.
