CES 2017 is in full swing this week, introducing new innovations every day in the IT and digital world. Naturally, some smartphone manufacturers also come up with some surprises.
Yesterday, Honor conference was held, which showed the Honor 6X launch by us. A device whose main feature is to be equipped with dual photo sensors to reproduce the same bokeh effect found in the iPhone 7 Plus.
Other than that, it retails for just €250 for the call price, which is much lower than the gondola head from Apple. However, does it represent a good enough evolution compared to the Honor 5X? And is it worth it against the Honor 8, which is no longer so far off in terms of price? Let’s compare.

The Honor 5X was one of the best value in the market at the time. Today, Honor offers him a worthy successor. Indeed, its whitepaper lets us see that the range has now moved to HiSilicon’s in-house Kirin processors, processors that are perfectly optimized with every phone from the manufacturer.
Therefore, there is no doubt that the performance will be there, of course all things considered, it will never reach the performance of high-end devices on the market. But for €250 it will integrate 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and an excellent battery.
In short, the Honor 6X easily manages to be the new entry-level offering, at least on paper. most seductive of the manufacturer. Especially since the device puts so much care into its design that despite this low price it will once again use metal.
Photo as the main argument
The Honor 5X has already surprised us with its photo quality at a discounted call price, and the Honor 6X plans to do the same by introducing a 12MP + 2MP dual photo sensor. But be careful, it’s not as powerful a sensor as the Honor 8.
Its dual rear sensors have 12 MP RGB sensors that essentially make up the photo. The 2 MP sensor is a sensor responsible for identifying the depth and proximity of the subject, so it can easily present the bokeh effect of the iPhone 7 Plus.
A bokeh effect also available on the Honor 8 but created in software. Its dual RGB + monochrome sensor makes it easier to create that contrast between background and subject, but the truth is, unlike the 6X, it’s not designed for just that.
Honor 8 is still a better phone
In our opinion, we will only keep the 64GB version as follows: 4GB of RAM Specs of Honor 6X to compare with Honor 8. Indeed, the 3GB/32GB storage version isn’t really comparable as it’s way off in terms of price.
At €300, the Honor 6X 64GB starts getting closer to the Honor 8, which regularly costs around €320 thanks to the many offers the manufacturer has handed out to the device. And for 20 € more, the smartphone offers a processor much strongera more versatile camera and an overall better experience.
Regardless, the Honor 6X remains an entry-level phone when the Honor 8 lets exorbitant prices unintentionally tickle the high end. Also, we’d have a hard time recommending the 64GB version of the Honor 6X versus the Honor 8, which would be quite a bit for a few additional tens of euros. much better friend.
Solution
It is undeniable that the Chinese manufacturer has once again managed to create one of the most interesting entry-level offers on the market. On purpose Optimization that Honor always shows On its own processors, Honor 6X’s Kirin 655 promises great performance for this category of device.
Combined with a superior 3340 mAh battery, we are sure to find exemplary autonomy in the device like the previous 5X, whose durability surprised us.
But the big interest of this new device lies in the photo sensor. In this range, you usually have to sacrifice that aspect of the phone. But the brand continues to prove that it doesn’t have to be, and offers a very trendy gimmick as a bonus. bokeh effect will delight young people and fans of mobile photography.
Compared to the Honor 5X, therefore, it’s a very good improvement at peanuts worth its weight. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version makes us more cautious, but it’s closer to the Honor 8 in terms of price and still turns out to be a premium proposition. To think according to the ODR of the moment!
