The Honor 8X camera packs several interesting features, including Huawei’s popular Night mode and the dual-lens system seen on the company’s flagship Huawei P20 Pro. More importantly, it also combines Huawei’s AI camera algorithms to help you shoot smart. In short, the Honor 8X has a lot to offer for the price.
In this post, we will see how to get the most out of the Honor 8X camera through these tips and tricks. Lets start!
1. Artificial Intelligence Photography
The AI mode on Honor phones can recognize almost 500 different scenes. It definitely makes shots look sharp with high contrast and saturation levels.

All you have to do is tap the AI button at the top. However, don’t get too carried away with this mod. AI mode can make a photo look unnatural at times.

For more natural photos with balanced color reproduction, the best option is to click images in the default photo mode and then edit them using Snapseed or VSCO.
2. Save Photo in Normal Mode
Did you know that you can switch between normal mode and AI mode in the gallery? To see the effects, simply tap the AI button in the upper right corner. Unfortunately, there is no built-in method to save the photo taken in Normal Mode. Fortunately, there is a nifty workaround for this.

Open the photo in Gallery and disable AI mode. Now, share the picture via an email. You can then save the picture to your phone’s gallery.

3. Ultra Low Light Mode
The Honor 8X also comes with a handy Night mode for taking low-light photos. Pro mode lets you tinker with multiple settings like exposure, focus and white balance. But in Night mode the only thing you have to worry about is the shutter speed and the rest is taken care of automatically.

Also, you really have to hold the phone still as the camera can take up to 7 seconds to take a shot. Tap the S icon in the lower left corner and drag the slider to adjust the speed. When done, tap the shutter button and wait.
4. Bring Your Photos to Life
See the little circular icon at the top? Yes, the one with the dotted edge? This icon opens the door to more vibrant photos. Instead of creating still images, the camera of your Honor 8X captures the picture a few moments before you click it. This results in a moving image and at the same time the still image is saved in the phone’s gallery.

Pictures taken with the Motion Picture mode are displayed with the same circular icon in the gallery. To activate it, all you have to do is tap the icon. It’s incredible, isn’t it?
5. A Game of Light and Darkness: HDRs
Unlike most phones, you have to enable HDR mode manually. Although the phone does allow Auto HDR in AI mode, unfortunately it doesn’t do the same in the default photo mode, which is a bit strange.

Just tap on More > HDR and click away. I really wish Honor would come up with a nifty option that lets the user choose what modes they want to have in the camera interface – something most Samsung phones offer.
Do you know
6. Ultra Snapshot
With the Face Unlock feature triggered by the slightest gesture, sometimes it’s hard to actually launch the camera app. And that can be pretty annoying when you need to take a snapshot on the fly. Ultra Snapshot mode solves this problem by letting you click pictures with the push of a button.

All you have to do is press the volume down button twice and the photo will be taken instantly. This mod can be enabled through the Settings mod. You can also change the settings to launch the camera instead.

Make sure to keep your hands as still as possible. Also, if you have a heavy phone case with big buttons, this mod can be a bit of a hassle to pull off.
7. Explore Additional Mods
Besides the five modes, the Honor 8X also comes with a few additional styles. One of the most notable is the Light Painting mode. If you are someone who likes to experiment with different skins and photo effects, you will love Light Painting.

Light Painting lets you click long exposure shots with various effects like Traffic trails and Star trails. The best part about these features is that you don’t have to bother with exposure or white balance. To get the most out of this mode, hold the phone steady or mount it with a tripod.
8. Tap to capture
Everyone loves the easy way to take pictures. Something as simple as smiling or pressing the volume button. In addition to the above, the Honor 8X also supports an additional feature that lets you take a photo just by touching the viewfinder.

To enable this option, go to Settings (gear-shaped icon) and change the Touch capture switch.
Click Smart
The tips mentioned above will definitely help you get the most out of your Honor 8X. Also, don’t forget to change your shots. While you can have the world with a phone camera these days, a little post-processing never hurts.
