Top 5 Ways to Delete Apps on iOS 13 and iPadOS

The App Store on your iPhone and iPad gives you access to thousands of apps. You can find just about anything like alternative browsers to Safari, apps for merging videos, or better on-screen keyboards. Choosing between them can sometimes be very difficult.

But you can’t keep installing apps forever. There will be a time when you will want to get rid of unwanted apps to free up storage space on your iPhone or iPad.

Whether that’s it or you just want to get rid of the clutter, the following five methods will help you achieve it easily on iOS 13 and iPadOS.

Warning:

1. Delete the App with Tap Touch Menu

The easiest way to delete apps from your iPhone or iPad involves using the Haptic Touch function.

Start on the home screen by long pressing the icon of the app you want to delete. Tap Delete App in the context menu that then appears. And that’s it!.

This method is great for easily deleting individual apps. Just make sure you’re on iOS 13.2 or iPadOS 13.2 or later; otherwise you won’t see the Delete App option.

2. Tactile Touch Jiggle Apps

If you want to delete multiple apps easily, start by long pressing an app icon on the Home screen. In the context menu that appears, tap Edit Home Screen to make all app icons vibrate.

Tap the ‘x’ shaped icon in the top left corner of the app you want to delete.

Repeat for other apps and then tap Done in the top right corner of the screen to stop the shaking animations.

3. Shake and Delete Apps Directly

Just like in older versions of iOS, you can rock apps in iOS 13 and iPadOS without messing with any context menus. The mere presence of Haptic Touch makes things a little confusing.

Start by long pressing any app icon, but keep pressing even after the Haptic Touch context menu appears. This will cause your apps to flicker.

Then all you have to do is uninstall your apps as usual – tap the ‘x’ shaped icon above any app you want to delete.

4. Delete Apps Using Settings app

If available storage is a concern, it’s even more helpful to delete unnecessary apps via the Settings app as you can see the amount of storage occupied by each app on your iPhone or iPad. Additionally, the Settings app also lets you offload apps; that means you can delete apps without removing related data.

Stage 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap General, then iPhone/iPad Storage.

Step 2: You will see a long list of installed apps along with the amount of storage used by each app. Tap an app and you can see more details about the app. Let’s take YouTube as an example.

App Size lists the amount of storage used by the app, while Documents & Data lists the storage consumed by various files created by the app (like downloaded videos).

Tap on Delete App to completely remove the app including all its related data.

Alternatively, using the Empty App option simply removes the app. This means that the amount of data listed next to Application Size will be released. This is perfect if you plan to reinstall the app in the future.

5. Delete Apps While Updating

Often times, we update apps without thinking twice. But in iOS 13 and iPadOS you now have the option to delete unnecessary apps before hitting that Update button. Go to the Account screen of the App Store – to do this, long press the App Store icon and then tap Updates.

Deleting unwanted apps can be crucial, especially if you’re using an iOS device with limited internal storage and 5GB of iCloud storage isn’t helping much. But once again, be sure to back up important data before deleting an app. Also note that if you want to keep important data intact, you can offload apps using the Settings app.
