Your iPhone’s Control Center is always just a single swipe. Apple has implemented many settings in a way that allows you to manage them seamlessly. Whether it’s switching between cellular data and Wi-Fi, changing screen brightness, or replacing Rotation Lock, Control Center helps.
That said, there are a few tips and tricks you can use to customize or enhance your Control Center experience. For example, did you know that you can get rid of those dreaded Home controls? Or the fact that you can rearrange how items in the Control Center appear? Lets start.
Note: The Control Center tips below apply to iPhones running iOS 14 and higher.
1. Remove Home Screen Controls
By default, your iPhone’s Control Center comes with multiple Home controls. This is an extra mess if you don’t have any Home accessories or scenes to direct. That said, you can turn off the Home controls in the Control Center fairly easily.
Start by opening the Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down and tap the option labeled Control Center. Then turn off the switch next to Show Home Controls.

This should get rid of the Home controls instantly. Control Center will now be more bearable (and easier to navigate).
2. Remove/Add Controls
The Control Center on your iPhone isn’t limited to the set of controls it has by default. Along with the more extensive options at the top of Control Center, you can remove unwanted controls or add many new controls (Magnifier, Stopwatch, Voice Recognition, etc.) to access or manage various functions on your iPhone.
Open the Settings app and tap Control Center. Under Included Controls section, remove unwanted controls by tapping the ‘-‘ icons next to them. You can also add controls by tapping the ‘+’ icons under the More Controls section.
3. Rearrange Controls
In addition to adding or removing controls, you can also choose to rearrange how Control Center controls appear. To do this, go to Settings > Control Center.

Then use the handles next to each control in the Included Controls section to drag the Controls in the order you want.
4. Tactile-Press Icons
Most controls in iPhone’s Control Center support long Tap Tap gestures. For example, long-pressing the Wi-Fi control twice lets you switch between networks. Performing the same gesture in the Brightness control gives you access to Dark Mode, Night Shift, and True Tone toggles.

Don’t forget to press the Haptic key on the smaller controls (which you can add or remove). You never know what helpful actions you might uncover.
5. Back Touch Control Center
Did you know that you can open the iPhone’s Control Center by double- or triple-tapping the back of the iPhone? An accessibility setting called Back Tap makes this more than possible.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Tap > Back Tap. Next, select Double Tap or Triple Tap and select Control Center.

Once you’ve done that, you can immediately access the Control Center by double-tapping or triple-tapping the back of the device at any time.
Besides Control Center, you can also connect important iPhone functions such as App Switcher, Notification Center and Siri.
6. Block Lock Screen Access
Control Center on your iPhone is accessible even when locked. If you tend to leave your iPhone lying around, this can pose a risk to your security. Any thief can steal your iPhone and enable Airplane Mode, preventing you from finding it in Find My.
To prevent this from happening, go to Settings > Face ID/Touch ID & Passcode. Then turn off the switch next to Control Center.

If you’re using an iPhone with Face ID, you shouldn’t notice much of the difference as your iPhone will be unlocked when you open Control Center.
7. Restrict Control Center in Apps
Accidentally accessing Control Center while using certain apps? This can be a problem when interacting with video games, for example.
However, you can stop it. Go to Settings > Control Center. Then turn off the switch next to Show in Apps.
This should prevent you from accessing Control Center from anywhere other than the Home screen and Lock screen.
If you want to re-enable the ability to access Control Center from anywhere, go back to Settings > Control Center and turn on the switch next to Show in Apps.
