Rename Apoint.exe

1. Firstly, open File Explorer and navigate to C drive. open here”program files” and search for the “Apoint2K” folder. If there is no Apoint2K folder, try looking under the “Program Files (x86)” folder.
2. Next, right-click on “Apoint2K” folder and select “Properties”.

8. Now click “OK” on other open windows. After that, open the “Apoint2K” folder and click “apoint.exe” file. Rename it to anything you like. For example, I renamed it “nothing.exe”.
9. Finally, restart the computer and after that you will not encounter the “Set User Settings as Driver Failed” error on your Windows computer.
Disable Service
if you You do not have access to the administrator account and you can’t proceed with the deletion, then you can go another route. You can disable the ‘Alps’ service from running on your PC. This way, the service will not run and you will not encounter the ‘Set user settings to driver failed’ error on your Windows PC.
1. First of all, End all processes by following steps 1-4 from the above section. After that, simultaneously press the “Windows” and “R” keys to open the “Run” window. here, type services.msc and press enter.
2. The Windows Services window will open. Here, Search for “Alps SMBus Monitoring Service” and right click to open “Properties”.
3. Now, click “Stop” and change “Startup type” to “.Disabled“. After that, click the “OK” button.
4. Next, open the Task Manager and go to the “Startup” tab. Here, Find “Alps Pointing Device” and disable it immediately. Finally, restart your computer. The ‘Adjust user settings to driver failed’ error will no longer occur on your PC.
Reinstall the driver

1. Right click on the start menu and select “Device Manager“.
2. Here, expand the “Mice and other pointing devices” menu and click “Alps pointing device“. After that, select the “Uninstall device” option.
3. After doing that, click on “Action” at the top and select “Scan for hardware changesYou will see the ‘Alps pointing device’ automatically reinstalled by your PC.
4. This time, right click on ‘Alps pointing device’ and select “update driver“.
5. Here, Click “Search for drivers automatically” and your Windows computer will start downloading the latest Alps driver from the internet. Restart your computer after installation.
