How to Add Watermark to Photos on iPhone

In this digital age, re-sharing someone’s photos and pictures is a sad reality. If you don’t want someone else to claim credit for your hard work, the best solution is to watermark them before posting them online. And if you own an Apple iPhone, luckily, the way to add watermark to photos on iPhone is a simple and easy process. This is especially true for photos taken on your phone.

You don’t have to go through a long process to add the watermark through image editors like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP. Instead, you can use the built-in editor on your iPhone to add watermarks to photos. Or if you’re not satisfied, you can use photo editing apps for iPhone like Snapseed or Canva.

The best part is that the process is simple and takes no more than a minute. If you want to watermark photos on iPhone, here’s how to do it.

How to Add Watermark to Photos on iPhone

Method 1: Built-in Photo editor

As mentioned earlier, the built-in photo editor on iPhone allows you to add watermarks without any hassle. Of course, it won’t be as elegant as you can create using apps like Photoshop or Canva. But it gets the job done.

Stage 1: Open the photo you want to edit via Photos. Tap the Edit button in the upper right corner to edit it.

Once inside, tap the small pencil-like icon in the upper-right corner to open the Markup tool.

Step 2: Then tap the little Plus icon on the bottom ribbon and select Text.

Tap the text box and drag it to the location you want. In our case, we placed it in the lower right corner. Then drag the corners of the text box to adjust its size.

Stage 3: Double-tap on the Text option to add your text. Next, choose one of the colors from the bottom strip.

Markup also offers two more fonts: Georgia and Noteworthy. If you are looking for a fun theme, you can go for the last option. And hey, you can change the font size.

Once complete, save the changes. This much. You have a new watermark for your images.

The only limitation of this method is that it proves very unnecessary if you have several photos on your iPhone that will watermark. Also if you want the watermark to be the same size for each image.

Alternatively, you can add a signature as a watermark. But this method does not allow you to play with color.

Method 2: Third-Party Photo Editor

Third-party editors like Snapseed (see the best Snapseed tips and settings) and Canva also allow you to add watermarks to photos on iPhone. And unlike the above method, you don’t have to do the unnecessary task of making the watermark over and over. Instead, you can pre-create a single watermark file and use it on all your photos. Again, the usual rules apply. For example, the watermark image should have a transparent background.

Although there are many image editors, we will explore reliable applications such as Snapseed and Canva. Here we will go first with Snapseed.

Stage 1: Open the transparent image in Snapseed and export it as a new file as shown in the screenshot below. This step will allow you to use the image as a logo.

Step 2: Then tap the Plus icon to open a new image. Tap on Tools and scroll down until you see the Double Exposure option.

Once done, tap the Plus icon on the bottom ribbon to select the Watermark image. Once complete, pinch the screen to resize the watermark file. Then move it to one of the corners.

Stage 3: Tap on the three card icons (Blend Mode) and select Lighten or Add to keep the original color of the base image.

Step 4: Tap the opacity icon and drag the slider slightly to the left to adjust the opacity of the watermark.

Now just export the image and that’s it. Your watermarked photo is ready to be published on social media sites.

Fortunately, the process is much easier in Canva. Here you need to open the photo and add the watermark image by tapping on the Plus icon as shown below.

Once done, the usual rules apply – compress and re-adjust the image as you see fit. And that’s it! Your watermarked photo is ready.
