5 things you need to know before creating your first TikTok

TikTok style is less flashy than other video types

Don’t worry about being too valuable for your videos. On TikTok, videos should be candid and natural and show your personality. Things like perfect edits, smooth transitions or flawless lighting shouldn’t get in the way of your idea and charisma.

Sure, there are tons of editing options, effects, and filters to choose from (what’s the difference between B3 and G4 filters anyway?) but you’re the real star, or at least these 6 friends are praising Lady Gaga for this bachelorette #caughtinabadromance challenge. If that’s not sincere, I don’t know what is.

you don’t have to dance

Good news! You don’t have to spend 2 hours perfecting LaLisa dance instruction to make your video stand out (no judgment here unless you want to!).

There are so many different ways to interact with your followers, these include unlocking and locking your living room in front of a ring light (but still, no need to judge if you do, aside from your pet and their cute judgmental eyes).

Also, you don’t have to try whatever it is.

Hashtags can help more people see your post

It’s no secret that a good hashtag can go a long way on TikTok. Strategic use of hashtags will help people find your videos that they don’t already follow and even see them on their For You Page (FYP).

Find the best hashtags to increase your views and help your content get recognized by the algorithm. You worked hard on it, you better show it to as many people as possible.

The right song can go a long way

Adding a trending song to your video or adding audio from a popular TikTok video can help more people see it. This app has a huge music following (many new songs are intentionally promoted through the app to help them rise in the music charts) so lassoing your video to one of these shooting stars will only help you get more FYP and ahead. new viewers

You are your greatest asset

Don’t think too much, just come up with a simple idea and let your personality shine through. The closeness and sense of community that TikTok brings is why people love this app – it feels personal.

Even if you’re doing a popular TikTok challenge or trend, what will make you stand out is your unique take on it. It’s not about cheating, it’s about showing your best self. Nothing should feel too gradual or self-aware (this is the zone of shame). Pretend your audience are your good friends and approach it with that energy!
